Recyke y'bike donations

(22 May 2020)

One of the silver linings in the current crisis is the surge in cycling. However, the demand has led to a spike in bike sales and a shortage of bikes available to buy or donate. If you do have a bike that needs a new home, please donate it to Recyke y’bike, it would be very gratefully received.

Recyke y’bike are chipping away at their referral waiting list and last week were able to provide 7 bikes to refugees, replace a Key Worker's stolen bike and send 28 bikes to Deerbolt Prison. And more referrals for bikes come in daily. They are only able to help those most in need if they get a steady stream of donations. 50% of donated bikes go to other organisations or to individuals. 45% are sold to cover running costs and 5% are recycled.

Bikes can be dropped off at the shop at 25 North Road, Durham Tuesday to Saturday. Please leave donations outside and knock on the window and they will be taken in.
