Remote Access service enhancements

(7 May 2020)

CIS is pleased to announce the launch of MDS Remote and Access VPN as part of our Remote Access service. We are launching these services for University employed staff to provide improved access to network resources and systems (including J:/ and S:/ drives) when working off-campus. We urge all users of a managed Windows laptop (MDS) and users of Pulse Secure to start using the new services as soon as possible. Further details can be found here.

Our MDS Remote service gives off-campus users the same access to University network resources as if you were on the University network, for example, S:/ and J:/ drives. Once installed, MDS Remote will automatically connect users to the University network in the background whenever the device has an internet connection.

Our Access VPN solution gives users on non-managed devices (often referred to as BYOD) and managed Mac devices access to University network resources and is a replacement for users currently using the Pulse Secure VPN.

We urge all users of a managed Windows laptop (MDS) and users of Pulse Secure to start using the new services as soon as possible. Further details can be found at http://www.dur.ac.uk/cis/services/remote
