Does your research have the potential to create commercial impact as a spin-out company? Northern Accelerator’s fifth funding call now open
(6 March 2020)
Applications are invited for the fifth (and currently final) round of pre-incorporation funding – helping academics take promising new research outcomes closer to commercialisation. Funding is available in two forms – feasibility awards and proof of concept awards. Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2020 and due to Northern Accelerator’s funding deadlines, all successful projects must have completed by 31 March 2021.
The application panel is particularly looking for projects that have potential to spin-out as new companies and those applications will be given priority. Large licensing opportunities will still be considered.
Northern Accelerator is a partnership between Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland Universities and is funded by Research England and ERDF. The initiative has already provided funding to 45 academics across the four universities, investing over £1.7million to allow them to progress the commercial potential in their research.
Northern Accelerator provides a whole range of support to help academics progress commercial opportunities, including training via our Ideas Impact Hub and our Executives into Business programme which matches talented business executives with opportunities to lead a spin-out company at an early stage.
