World Book Day

(28 February 2020)

Library and Collections will be celebrating World Book Day on 5 March, with a range of activities taking place all week long. Join in at our different sites and online #WorldBookDay

Blind Date with a book: broaden your reading horizon by picking up a mystery library book. At our libraries you will find some books wrapped in brown paper and just a brief description. Just issue it to yourself using the barcode on the front. Research shows that reading has a positive impact on your well-being, improves your vocabulary and helps you relax.

• Running 2-8 March

Share a story – are you sitting comfortably?: As part of our Café Culture programme we invite you to pop into Small Island Coffee (Bill Bryson Library), and just sit and listen to someone reading you a story. You can come in any time during the session and stay for however long you wish. It’s a great way to take 20 minutes out from studying and refresh your mind.

Write of passage – recommend your favourite book: If you have a favourite book title, why not tell everyone about it. At our different sites you will find post-it notes and a sharing board. Just write down the title of your favourite book and stick it on the board. Look to see what other people are recommending; maybe there’s something you fancy trying.
