AEA Open Meeting

A second meeting of the AEA regarding the Lecture Capture Policy will be held 1pm - 2pm on 12 February 2020 in D110 (Dawson Building).

In November there was an extraordinary meeting of the AEA held to discuss the university’s Lecture Capture Policy. There were three proposed motions; votes were taken; the motions were subsequently discussed at Senate, and significant changes were made to the Lecture Capture Policy. We are holding a second meeting to feedback those changes agreed by Senate to the AEA membership.

During the November meeting it became apparent that not all staff were aware of how recordings could be either paused or stopped. Additionally, a motion that proposed to allow the use of recordings in cases raised under the university’s Respect at Work and Respect at Study policies was rejected, with some staff citing their unfamiliarity with the policies. Therefore, the meeting will also provide further technical guidance about how Encore is used so that staff feel more comfortable with it when they choose to use the technology, and the two “Respect” policies will be presented to raise awareness of them.

No formal motions for voting will be discussed, but the minutes of the meeting will be fed back to the Vice-Provost (Education) to inform future policy development.
