Cycle and footpaths to be improved in £8m investment
(8 November 2019)
As a University, the safety of our students, staff, visitors and members of the public is of utmost importance to us. Work will soon begin on site on an £8m project to improve pedestrian and road user movement around our site, particularly around South Road and Hollingside Lane. Read on for more information.
The infrastructure improvements project will include improving existing cycle and footpaths, creating new ones, and developing a new car park at Upper Mountjoy. The contractors will arrive on site on Monday, 25 November, setting up a site compound in the lower car park at Collingwood College. We anticipate all works begin completed by March 2021.
The project has been developed in discussion with Departments, Colleges and student representatives, as has the schedule for work – taking into account the University calendar and City events.
