Volunteers needed to assist Durham Foodbank

(30 October 2019)

The Staff Volunteering Team are looking for 4 more volunteers to assist Durham Foodbank on Friday, 8 November 9.30am-1.30pm. The task will involve sorting and packing donations at the food store in Chester-le-Street. If you would like to get involved, please contact community.engagement@durham.ac.uk.

Durham Foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK. In 2018/19, The Trussell Trust’s Foodbank Network provided 1,583,668 three-day emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis. Of these, 577,618 went to children. Volunteer work with the Foodbank is crucial to the smooth running of the ever-growing operation.
