Alternative travel and parking

(30 August 2019)

To assist staff with the closure of Territorial Lane and Elvet Waterside car parks and access to the University for those who may not have an option but to drive, details are available on alternative travel options, University car parks, public car parks and Park and Ride Sites.

We are encouraging staff to think about their travel options to the University and to travel in a more environmental way which will assist both themselves and our community as a whole.

There are several sustainable travel options available for staff to consider which include the use of public transport, on which discounted travel for staff is available, or car sharing and details are set out on the Greenspace travel website. A document is also available which sets out all of the options, giving links to relevant websites which can be found here

We are aware that not everyone will be able to make use of public transport or other alternatives, but we are providing incentives and details for alternatives to make this easier for staff and students to make the choice.

As you know the University does have a number of car parks, some of which do have their own parking restrictions (Botanic Garden, Maiden Castle, Oriental Museums and Palace Green) so please make sure you read the parking notices within the car park you use. A map of all University car parks is available on the Estates website along with details of parking spaces along Green Lane and the Rugby Club (please note the latter does have some restrictions).
