Professor Rachel Spronken-Smith, University of Otago, New Zealand, will open this Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Forum session on Wednesday, 11 September, by presenting her research on the preparedness of PhD graduates for career pathways, a comparative case study of graduates from US and NZ universities. Places can be booked via this link.
This will be followed by a discussion of development opportunities for PhD students at Durham by Dr Simon Rees (Durham Centre for Academic Development) and of Careers Support for, and case studies of, PhD students at Durham by David Henderson (Careers and Enterprise Centre). The session will wrap up with a panel Q&A session and the opportunity for open discussion.
A buffet lunch will be served in the Scarborough Café from 12.30pm to 1pm, followed by speakers and panel Q&A session from 1pm to 2.20pm in Room CG218, Chemistry. After the main event, attendees are welcome to stay behind for open discussion. The event will close at 3pm.
