Responsible parking within University grounds

(26 July 2019)

Vehicles brought onto University grounds must be parked responsibly and within marked designated areas or marked bays. Vehicles must not be left in a position where they are likely to create a hazard, obstruct other vehicles, pedestrians, access to buildings, rights of way and gated entrances. This also applies to parking any vehicles on other unmarked designated parking areas.

Vehicles must not be parked in a disabled bay without clearly displaying a valid Durham University disabled permit.

Durham University disabled permits do not allow the vehicle to be parked anywhere other than designated parking bays, this is not limited to disabled bays.

A limited number of marked visitor bays across Upper and Lower Mountjoy are available for external visitors on University business only. They are not, for example, available to staff or conference attendees. Any vehicle parked in a visitor bay without the relevant visitor permit for that specific bay may be subject to a PCN. Visitor bays must be arranged in advance here or by emailing visitor.parking@durham.ac.uk Staff driving departmental vehicles are reminded that they also must adhere to the University Parking Policy at all times.

By signing the staff car parking application form you agree to abide by the University Parking Policy which can be found here.

Any breach of the above guidelines or policy may be subject to a Parking Charge Notice.
