Workshop: How to work with business and industry

(22 February 2019)

This workshop will explore how researchers in the Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities can work with business and industry, focusing on how to overcome some common challenges and pitfalls. Come along on Thursday, 28 February, 10am - 12 noon, to the Derman Christopherson Room, Calman Learning Centre. You can book your place via the Training Course Booking System. Please email for more information.

What is it about?

Boundaries between academia and the rest of the world are fast dissolving and it is becoming increasingly important to create impactful research. This workshop will explore how university researchers can work with business and industry, focusing on how to overcome some common challenges and pitfalls.

You will gain insights into the PEOPLE-centred development approach, covering how to identify and negotiate relationships with potential partners, translating your research into practical solutions, and managing conflicting priorities.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed at researchers within the Faculties of Social Sciences and Health and Arts and Humanities. This session will be of interest to those individuals who are interested in understanding more about how to recognise and capitalise upon industry collaboration opportunities within the research environment and beyond.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to incorporate people-centred approaches into existing or new curricula, and how to apply the approach to products and services in the private, public or third sector.

The network offers shared resources, advice and support for putting collaborative and co-creative projects into action.
