Truth and Politics: Have the Two Become Estranged?

(15 February 2019)

The Centre for the Study of Jewish Culture, Society and Politics is inviting you to this talk on Monday, 11 March at 5pm in the Ken Wade Lecture Theatre, Calman Learning Centre. The talk will be followed by a drinks reception in the Derman Christopherson Room. The event is free and open to all.

Ilan Baron (author of How to Save Politics in a Post-Truth Era) and Keith Kahn-Harris (author of Denial: The Unspeakable Truth) consider how far truth is under threat in contemporary politics. How might it be possible to find a place for facts within a political economy of desire? And how might it be possible to understand truth critically without descending into total relativism?
