Priory Library Project

(13 February 2019)

Richard Higgins will present a session on the Priory Library project on Wednesday, 27 February at 10m in the Elvet Room, Bill Bryson Library. All are welcome to hear about this innovative project, the technology involved, and history of the collection. Please email for more information and to sign up.

Durham possesses the finest collection of medieval manuscripts and a surprising number of printed books used by the monks in their studies of any English cathedral. Durham University, in partnership with Durham Cathedral, is engaged in an ambitious project to digitise Durham Priory Library - the books owned and used by the Benedictine monastery of Durham and its dependent cells.
