Professor Martyn Evans - retirement
(30 November 2018)
Martyn Evans has decided to retire in September 2019. He will step down as Durham’s Chair of Colleges, Principal of Trevelyan College, and as a Professor in our Music Department. Martyn joined the University 16 years ago and he has made an incredibly valuable contribution – to his Department and to both John Snow and Trevelyan Colleges, where he served as Principal. We will be sure to celebrate Martyn’s many achievements when he departs next year.
His love of our Colleges is well known: he orchestrated the first ever ‘Collegiate Way Conference’ back in 2014, which he followed by co-editing the book ‘The Collegiate Way: university education in a collegiate context’. He was the obvious first choice for Durham’s first ever Chair of Colleges and he has made a huge impact working with his colleagues to help the University community provide the best student experience possible.
