Love Food Hate Waste competition results

(23 November 2018)

As part of the recent Waste Awareness Week, nine Colleges took part in the Love Food Hate Waste competition. Congratulations to all staff and students involved - the competition was a roaring success with eight of the Colleges showing a reduction in plate waste during the competition.

Congratulations go to competition winner’s Hatfield College who showed the biggest improvements in tackling plate waste, a hefty reduction of 0.16kg per person! Hatfield have now received the sought after John Turner Trophy and have set a strong marker for other colleges to try to beat next year!

Commendations also to St Cuthbert’s Society and Trevelyan College for their impressively low baselines of food waste from plates. Likewise, Collingwood College and University College are celebrated for their strong efforts in reducing food waste during the competition.

Compared to last year’s competition a reduction in the baseline of food waste within catered colleges of 1000kg was seen. This is great news so well done to catering teams and students alike.
