Durham Global Debate Events
(12 September 2018)
Durham University Business School is running the first of two Durham Global Debate Events in Shanghai on Wednesday, 19 September. The event is being run in collaboration with Cocoon Networks Shanghai and will focus on Blockchain technologies. It aims to celebrate and showcase some of the School's key research projects via "TEDx-style" talks and discussions. The date, venue and theme of the second Global Debate will be announced in due course.
The Durham Global Debate Blockchain Workshop will be hosted in the China Financial Information Centre, Pudong New District, Shanghai which is appropriate given the major role blockchain technologies have played in global financial services. The technologies present opportunities for disruptive innovation and the debate will discuss how business leaders can embrace the concept of blockchains and bring state-of-the-art information systems in to their organisations to improve client and customer engagement and ultimately the bottom line of their businesses.
The debate is attracting world-leading scholars, industry leaders, potential partners and investors and Durham alumni to hear keynote presentations from Professor Julian Williams of Durham University Business School and Professor Li Ling, Dean of School of Information Science and Technology, Fudan University. The opening address will be from Mr Tony Clemson, Deputy British Consulate General, Shanghai.
