Effectiveness Review of Boards of Studies - Green Paper consultation

Colleagues are invited to engage with the Effectiveness Review, which is jointly-led by the University Secretary and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, by providing a response to the online consultation on the Review's Green Paper.

The Green Paper was welcomed by Senate on Monday, 18 June 2018 as a direction of travel. It makes 19 high-level recommendations to Senate regarding the effectiveness of Boards of Studies and the role and appointment process of Heads of Department.

The Green Paper’s recommendations were informed by the Evidence Paper and its appendices, particularly the responses which were submitted by Boards to the December 2017 to January 2018 consultation exercise.

Responses included a number of constructive suggestions and best practice examples which will be utilised in implementation proposals should the Effectiveness Review’s recommendations be approved by Senate and Council later in 2018.

Comments and feedback upon the Green Paper will be welcomed until Friday, 21 September 2018.

The final stage of the Review, in autumn 2018 will see a White Paper with final proposals submitted for approval to Senate and Council in October.

The White Paper will be informed by all consultation responses received during summer 2018.
