Durham University Research Methods Centre
(13 August 2018)
The Durham Research Methods Centre is a brand new hub which will be running events, offering training and support, and fostering a vibrant community through which expertise is shared and cutting edge ideas are developed. We are looking to appoint a Director and two Co-Directors with the expertise and enthusiasm to develop a thriving Centre which will build capacity and further enhance the University's reputation for research quality. Details, and how to apply, can be found on the HR recruitment page.
The centre will be established in Autumn 2018 within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health but it's aim is to connect interests and expertise across all faculities.
Once up and running, the Centre will offer::
- A coordinated programme of professional development and training for staff and postgraduate students in research methods (with an emphasis on quantitative methods) up to an advanced level. This will be done in collaboration with other programmes and activities such as the courses offered by CAROD, the MA Research Methods programme, and through links with world-leading visiting academics.
- Support for individuals and teams to develop grant applications that include quantitative methods.
- Opportunities and support for research that utilises large-scale datasets that already exist at Durham.
- Opportunities to advance our understanding of the potential of Big Data and Data Science.
