Environmental Fact of the Week

(25 May 2018)

Did You Know…Livers In and Out can take part in the Green Move Out scheme to reduce waste and support local charities? Further details can be found here.

Every year during the summer, thousands of students move between properties or away from Durham and Stockton. During this time a large amount of waste is generated in the local area. The Green Move Out scheme collects students’ unwanted reusable items and donates them to local charities for reuse. Last summer, over 20 tonnes of reusable items were diverted from general waste. Purple collection bags have already been delivered to hundreds of student properties in Durham City, including several purpose-built student accommodation providers. Blue collection bags will be distributed to all Livers In shortly. For those living out in Stockton, please follow local recycling guidance and donate unwanted reusable items to charity shops.
