Help your students avoid stress at the start of next term
(9 March 2018)
At the start of every term checks are carried out to make sure that our students’ computers have the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware updates and system patches. It’s an important process that keeps their devices and the University's networks secure. If their computer doesn’t pass through the scan – they won’t be able to connect it to the University’s network. Please help CIS to get students connected smoothly. If you’re teaching or meeting with students next week, please remind them to look out for an email from the IT Service Desk over the Easter break, and to scan their devices early.
To avoid difficulties getting connected at the start of term, students can scan their devices from home over the holidays, using a remote scan facility which will be made available to them from 12 April. If their device doesn’t pass the process, they’ll have time to carry out the appropriate updates and re-submit it before term starts. Thank you for your help in sharing this important message to help minimise disruption at the start of term. Read more about the quarantine process here.
