The Men's Story Project (MSP), hosted by the HeForShe Society
(16 March 2018)
Around the world, social norms regarding what it means to "be a man” often contribute to many health and justice problems. The Men’s Story Project is a production meant to break the boundaries between masculinity and humanity; between “being a man“, and just “being”. The HeForShe society are organising one of these productions. So, men of Durham, you are invited to break your silences and join the effort to expose masculinity through personal experiences expressed in any creative form you want. For more information on the project, click here.
Social norms regarding what it means to "be a man” often contribute to many health and justice problems, including men's violence against women, violence between men, homophobia, transphobia, bullying, substance abuse, HIV and STIs, men's lower rates of healthcare use, and gender inequality.
Research has found that working to shift gender norms in support of healthy masculinities is a productive and needed approach to promoting well-being for all people. We need widespread transformations in male gender norms, toward health and social justice for all people. That's where he Men’s Story Project steps in.
If you are interested in being involved with the production, either organising it (open to anyone) or being in the production itself (open to anyone who identifies as a man) please contact the HeForShe Facebook page. The deadline for submission is Sunday, 18 March 2018.
