The Dr John Snow Annual Lecture 2018

(13 February 2018)

Dr Steven Oliver will present ‘Airs...Waters...Places: the life of Dr John Snow’ at Queen's Campus on Thursday, 15 March 2018, 3pm-4pm. Reserve your place today.

Speaker: Dr Steven Oliver FFPH PhD, Academic Lead Phase I, University of York & Hull Medical School

Location: Tees Suite, Wolfson Building, Queen’s Campus, Stockton

Steven Oliver first encountered Dr John Snow in his first term at medical School in Nottingham in 1984 (Steven's first term that is) where he helped trigger an enduring fascination in the patterning of disease in populations and the potential for epidemiology to change lives. Their paths have crossed at several points after that: they both studied at Newcastle Medical School (where Steven took an MSc in Public Health); in Durham, he worked in John Snow House as a trainee in Public Health.

Steven completing a PhD on the aetiology of prostate cancer at the University of Bristol in 2002. Since 2003 Steven has lived and worked in John's home town of York, helping establish the Hull York Medical School.

The event will be followed by light refreshments and birthday cake.
