Keep your devices safe from the Meltdown and Spectre security threat

(2 February 2018)

As reported in the press, security experts have uncovered two new bugs that could allow hackers to steal data. These vulnerabilities affect smartphones, tablets and computers, and potentially expose passwords and other sensitive content. Software updates are now available to protect against attacks and CIS is fixing these issues on our systems and services, including the managed desktops next week. Security advice is available on our dedicated pages.

Make sure you regularly apply all vendor recommended security updates for your devices and any University owned devices you look after. Apple has provided a fix in their latest update to solve issues experienced by MacOS (High Sierra) users - this addresses the problem some of you have printing to the central system.
