Safeguarding from Radicalisation (The Prevent Duty) Training
(4 May 2017)
An online e-learning course, 'Safeguarding from Radicalisation' is available on duo under the 'My Organisations' section of the homepage. The course is open to all staff, and provides an overview of what the Prevent Duty is, how it applies to Durham University and our responsibilities under it. It is particularly important for staff in student facing roles. Alternatively an all staff workshop has also been developed giving participants the opportunity to discuss the issues regarding Prevent in more depth. Booking is available through the HR Training Course Booking System.
You will be aware of the University’s responsibility to comply with the requirements of the Prevent Duty; part of the government’s strategy to reduce the risk of people being drawn into terrorism under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. As part of our response, we have developed an online e-learning course to help staff understand the Prevent Duty, how it applies to Durham University, and what staff need to be aware of. The course is particularly important for those staff in student-facing roles, and we would strongly encourage you to undertake this e-learning course if you have such a role. All staff, however, are encouraged to undertake the training, to raise awareness of how all members of the University community can contribute to our efforts to safeguard our members from radicalisation.
The course should take approximately 1 hour to complete, but may be completed in multiple sittings if required.
Alternatively, an all staff workshop has been developed which will deliver the online training content in an interactive format, giving participants the opportunity to discuss the issues in more depth. These workshops are offered on a monthly basis until June 2017, and all are welcome to attend. Booking is available through the HR Training Course Booking System.
