Marshals needed for Summer Congregation 2017

Staff are invited to get involved at Summer Congregation by volunteering to marshal. You will be working with colleagues from across the University to provide advice and guidance to students, guests and staff attending ceremonies. Instructions and training will be provided in advance and lunch plus cakes/refreshments will be supplied in the Cathedral Restaurant.

More Homestay Accommodation needed for International Students

Do you enjoy hosting visitors in your own home? Could you offer a warm welcome to international students attending short courses in Durham this summer between Sunday, 28 May and Saturday, 5 August? If so, the English Language Centre would love to hear from you. They are looking for more hosts with a spare room who could provide half board accommodation. Staff Interest Free Loan Scheme

To support all international staff, (including if applicable, EEA staff) with the costs associated with visa applications, applications for permanent residency or British Citizenship, the University will be launching an Interest Free Loan Scheme on Tuesday, 2 May. Staff who are appointed on an open ended contract, or on a fixed term contract of employment of two years or more, will be eligible to make an application for a loan. For further information please visit the Staff Interest Fee Loan Scheme page or email hr.ukvi@durham.ac.uk for more information.

Language learning opportunities this summer

Registration is now open for the Centre for Foreign Language Study’s summer language courses.Nine week development and nine day intensive courses are available, offering the opportunity to study to a schedule which suits your summer plans. Languages available include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish – in a range of levels.
