Be vigilant for phishing email scams related to Covid 19 return to work and lockdown easing

We are aware of multiple phishing campaigns targeting people from all over the world where fraudsters are using the fear of the Covid-19 outbreak the easing of lockdowns and reopening of offices and study spaces to steal login credentials and deliver viruses in email. To reduce the risk to staff, students and University information please be vigilant when handling email from unusual or unrespect senders or regarding atypical circumstances involving email attachments or filling out web page forms requesting personal data and logins. Discover at Home

Discover at Home is a free downloadable resource for 5- 9 year olds which can be used at home – discover Durham University’s collections, from Durham Castle’s grand building, to the Oriental Museum’s treasures, to the colourful Art Collection, the papers of the Archives and the secrets from the Museum of Archaeology. You will Discover objects, paintings and artefacts from our collections, create art work like artist and Durham University teacher Dr Finola Finn and share your work in our online Community Gallery. For more information click here, or email 4schools@durham.ac.uk.

Female Intelligence: Women and the British Security State in World War I

We are delighted to announce that Professor Tammy Proctor (Utah State University, USA) will be the speaker at our next Centre for Modern Conflicts and Cultures event. Her talk, will take place on Tuesday 4 August from 4pm-5pm via Zoom. Everyone is welcome to join the event, but registration is required.

Italian summer classes at St John's College

Would you like to learn a new language this summer? How about Italian? Miro Cafolla will be running an Italian course, with sessions every Friday for six weeks. Miro, is a native Italian speaker and the course will be a great opportunity to make new friends and learn a new language in a relaxed environment. All the fees will be donated to support St John's College.

Psychological Safety - video resource

Your health and wellbeing remains our key priority during this time. The world of work has altered significantly and the way we work, engage and learn is almost unrecognizable from what we once knew. The impacts of Covid-19 have been far reaching and varied, which in turn has affected both our physical and psychological safety – which is why the HR-OD team have produced a Stream video clip considering the concept of Psychological Safety and its importance.

Re-opening of the Fitness Centre

Following the recent government announcement, we are excited to confirm that The Fitness Centre will be reopening the first week in August (date to follow). In order to comply with government guidelines we have made some changes to our day to day operations which include a reduced maximum capacity, a one way flow of users and a rigorous cleaning regime. All members will also be required to book in to a session via our online booking system, a link to which will be available soon.
