Happy 70th birthday to the National Health Service (NHS)

Since it was formed in 1948, the NHS has transformed the health and wellbeing of the nation. Its founding principle of free, high quality health care for all has led to huge medical advances and improvements to public health, meaning we can all expect to live longer lives. The NHS turns 70 on 5 July 2018 and so why not organise, or take part in, some of the many events and activities planned to mark the occasion? Durham University Communications Team would love to hear your stories from the day so please write to us at and send us your pictures too.
