Colleges summer makeover

We spent around £5 million repairing and refurbishing several Colleges this summer. This included work at St Hild and St Bede, St Aidan's, Van Mildert and St Mary's. For more information, see the latest edition of Dialogue magazine. Estates and Buildings also fixed over 5,000 faults across the Colleges, all in good time for the new academic year.

Notifying you of blocked emails and attachments

Changes to your email service mean you will now receive a notification if an email containing a suspect attachment has been blocked. This relates to emails that have been sent to you, or any you have sent from your University email address. The automated email notification you receive will be from As a result you will be able to take any necessary action promptly – for example if it relates to an attachment you are expecting and you know it’s not suspicious, you can ask the sender to share it with you using a different file type. TravelPrepare e-learning

Global Response provide University staff and students with access to TravelPrepare, an expanded e-learning facility to assist both staff and students prior to travel on University business. The modules covered are Basic Travel Security Awareness, Natural Disasters, Information Security Abroad, Avoiding Bribery and Corruption When Travelling, Female Traveller Security and Kidnap for Ransom. The online training is very easy to use and contains useful pointers on what to do or not to do in various situations. Further information on how to access the training can be found on the website or please email

Study on cognitive and emotional factors linked to unusual perceptual experiences

Psychology undergraduate students are looking for participants aged 30 years and above to take part in their dissertation study. The study takes one hour and participants will receive a £5 Amazon voucher.
