Coming soon: New improved self-service portal for your IT queries

CIS is making a significant upgrade to the Service Desk system that they use to log and manage incidents, requests and changes. This will provide a much improved self-service portal for you to log and track the progress of your calls, and comes with a powerful search function to help you find things more easily. In order to perform the upgrade, the current self-service portal will be unavailable between 5pm on Tuesday, 3 April to 12pm on Wednesday, 4 April. You can still contact the IT Service Desk during this time by calling 0191 334 1515.

Durham Women Making a Difference

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team invites you to celebrate the outstanding women of Durham University. The team would like you to celebrate the achievements of current staff and students as they seek nominations for those female or non-binary students and/or staff members who have made a difference to the nominator, to their academic or professional field or to the wider community. Nominations can be submitted here until Monday, 26 March. Nominees will be featured on the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpage and recognised at a celebratory event in May.

Enquiries Management to go live

The University is reaching a key milestone in the Recruiting the Next Generation of Students (RNGS) programme. The Microsoft Dynamics Enquiry Management System was successfully launched on Tuesday, 27 February. The Enquiry Management System, which constitutes the first phase of the implementation of the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM, focuses on contact and enquiries management, and will be used by teams in Student Recruitment, Access and Engagement and the International Office. If you would like more information on the RNGS programme please contact the team at or visit the RNGS webpages.

Did you know …. the University’s Carbon Report 2016/17 is now available? The University has produced its first Carbon Report 2016/17 which provides high level performance-related information on the University's carbon emissions. The intention is to provide a clear, concise and accessible report drawn from our more detailed in-house carbon reporting mechanisms.

ESRC IAA Mentoring Impact 2018/19 Scheme

As part of its Capacity Building Programme, the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) is launching its Mentoring Impact 2018/19 scheme.This scheme is designed to support Durham Social Science researchers to maximise the impact and influence of their research on non-academic beneficiaries, and is open to researchers within the Social Sciences Faculty, at all career stages, who wish to develop their impact and engagement work. Please email applications to Elaine Grieveson, ESRC IAA Manager at by 5pm on Thursday, 29 March.

Hotel Indigo Durham invites

There is a maximum of 22 people per session, on a first-come first-served basis. Other dates may be offered if there is a high demand. Please enter the hotel at the entrance under the Hotel Indigo sign on Old Elvet. You will be offered a welcome refreshment and a tour of the refurbishment by the Hotel Indigo team.
