Safeguarding from Radicalisation (The Prevent Duty) Training

An online e-learning course, 'Safeguarding from Radicalisation' is available on duo under the 'My Organisations' section of the homepage. The course is open to all staff, and provides an overview of what the Prevent Duty is, how it applies to Durham University and our responsibilities under it. It is particularly important for staff in student facing roles. Alternatively an all staff workshop has also been developed giving participants the opportunity to discuss the issues regarding Prevent in more depth. Staff Mode of Travel Survey 2017

The Mode of Travel Survey 2017 is now open which we encourage all staff to complete. The results will provide vital information on how staff travel to and from the University. The survey will close on Tuesday, 16 May. By completing the survey, staff may also enter into a prize draw to win a £100 Amazon voucher. All data will remain confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of updating the targets and objectives of the University’s Sustainable Travel Plan. Through actions we can all take, ‘every small step leads to big change’.

University Governing Body: Staff Members Required

The University Council has overall responsibility for the governance and strategic planning of the University. As well as external independent members and the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, it includes seven members of University staff. We will shortly be advertising for two staff members (one open to all staff, the other to academic staff only). This is an opportunity to get involved at the highest level of the University’s strategic planning and governance, so please think about applying or encouraging a colleague. In the meantime, if you would like to know more about the role please contact the University Secretary or any of the current staff members listed here

Applying for Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)

The DREAM accredited scheme at Durham means that applying for Senior Fellowship of the HEA is an in-house process. This one day course will allow you to produce a first draft of your application. The process involves writing up two case studies of your work in teaching, learning and assessment as well a general description of your activities. The day long workshop will offer 1-2-1 advice and support on the writing process as well as feedback on your draft. You can attend for the whole day or for just the morning or afternoon.
