NERC's Ocean-Bottom Instrumentation Facility

The Dept hosts the NERC's Ocean-Bottom Instrumentation Facility which provides scientists with tools to conduct surveys of the Earth's interior under the world's oceans. The Facility has, funded by the NERC's URGENCY scheme, just deployed a set of six ocean-bottom seismographs around the islands of the Azores to record microseismicity (small earthquakes) associated with the volcanic eruptions that perpetually build the islands within the archipelago.
