Welcome to CDT

We celebrated our tenth anniversary in 2019. The CDT has admitted 91 students from eight different academic departments across the faculties of science and social sciences.

The CDT is one of the longest-running, largest and most successful CDTs at Durham University. The CDT was originally funded by EPSRC. The Durham Energy Institute has worked to ensure that the CDT is now continuing beyond the original research council funding.

As part of this multidisciplinary CDT in Energy, students have the opportunity to gain wide-ranging knowledge of energy-related issues from technical to political to economic to social aspects. This supports students undertaking world-class research within a world-leading research group at Durham University. The Durham Multidisciplinary CDT in Energy provides a wide-ranging, stimulating and effective training programme in all aspects of energy with particular emphasis on developing multidisciplinary perspectives and approaches to energy problems.
