Zurbarán Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art and Culture
Durham University’s expertise and research in Spanish and Latin American Art ranges from the Middle Ages to contemporary cinema and photography.
Encompassing topics such as conflict, drama, politics and religion, Durham’s expertise spans a number of subject areas and complements the international research reputation of our Centre for Visual Arts and Culture.
Building on this, the University will open the Zurbarán Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art in 2018 in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. The new Centre will sit alongside a Spanish Art Gallery, due to be launched by The Auckland Project (TAP) in 2019.
This partnership with TAP will involve research projects, conferences, workshops, postgraduate study opportunities and an evolving curatorial programme, allowing us to further expand the public profile and academic investigation of Spanish and Latin American Art.
