St Mary's College Student Levies and College Contributions 2021/22

This form allows you to pay for optional charges connected with you being a member of St Mary's College. The optional charges for you to consider are:
- Membership of the Junior Common Room - Undergraduate Students - (JCR) and
- Middle Common Room Membership - Postgraduate Students - (MCR)
which confer the following rights and benefits:
1. Voting rights at Common Room Meetings and Elections (non members cannot vote).
2. Eligiblity to run for Common Room positions, both Executive and Non-Executive positions (non-members cannot nominate others or be nominated for Common Room positions).
3. Access to College clubs and societies, including College sports teams (non-members cannot participate).
4. Eligibility to apply to attend JCR events in College such as formal dinners and balls (non-members cannot attend unless as a guest of a member).

The membership fee is used to contribute towards the running costs of the Clubs and Societies, JCR events and activities in College and to cover the cost of having a sabbatical JCR President who manages, along with elected student members, the Junior Common Room. Membership of the JCR is priced depending on whether you are due to enter on a 3 year or 4 year degree programme and membership of the MCR is priced on an annual basis. College Library Contribution

This is a voluntary contribution to help maintain the facilities provided by the College Library (for example the purchase of new books or equipment, as seen appropriate by the Librarian and their student team). Any student who chooses not to contribute will not be disadvantaged in any way from making full use of the College Library.

St Mary's College JCR and MCR Induction 2021

St Mary's College Junior Common Room (JCR) and Middle Common Room (MCR) are organising various events during induction Week (27 September to 3 October 2021 for JCR Members / 19 September to 3 October for MCR Members), which include tours of St Mary's, Durham City and local places of interest, as well as nights out and College nights in. Details of all JCR/MCR induction activities can be found on the University Induction Planner, on the JCR/MCR Facebook page and on the JCR website. These JCR-organised events are designed to help you meet other students and get settled in St Mary's College and Durham University. The cost of participating in the JCR Induction Week activities is £45 JCR and £18 MCR and includes a t-shirt. Please be aware that some activities are ouside of College and may incur a small additional charge.

In addition to registering for Induction Week, completion of this form allows you to order a bed linen pack for £35, pay for membership of the College gym for £20 and order a gown for £25.00/£53.00. The purchase of gowns online is subject to availability.

The information provided on this form will be passed to the JCR so that they can prepare for your arrival, plan induction week activities and communicate directly with you about JCR activity.

Refund Policy

If a student leaves the University during the first academic year, they will be eligible for a refund of two thirds of the JCR Levy only. Please contact: JCR/MCR as above or
