Delivering Excellence - Working Therapeutically in the Criminal Justice System 2019
Wednesday, 10 July 2019 to Thursday, 11 July 2019
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the work and vision of the Counselling in Prisons Network, which was founded 12 years ago. This will be our 12th Annual Conference and will take place at Durham University on 10-11July 2019.
The Work of the Network
The Counselling in Prisons Network is a Partner Organisation in The WHO Partnership for health in the criminal justice system. The platform is used as a tool for sharing publications, good practice guidelines, and other prison health-related information.
A key aim of the Counselling in Prisons Network is to identify and produce research agendas in relation to the engagement, management and treatment of female and mail offenders.
A key objective of the organisation is to develop effective interventions in relation to engagement, management and treatment of female and male offenders who are resident within the custodial setting. The primary aim is to grow an effective evidence base in working therapeutically in the criminal justice system.
This is achieved through:
- The pooling of expertise and sharing best practice through presentation and networking.
- Providing support to members/practitioners and academics in the field of working therapeutically in the criminal system.
- Conducting relevant research in order to inform, practice and develop evidence based practice.
