Explore ‘Museum from Home’ during lockdown

(30 April 2020)

We’re passionate about inspiring learning for people of all ages, and we’re not going to let COVID-19 get in the way!

We’re excited to announce ‘Museum from Home’, a suite of free online resources to help you keep learning during the lockdown – whatever your age or background.

What’s on offer?

For children under five: a live streamed version of our weekly Little Dragons club, with stories, games and activities.

For primary and secondary school-aged young people: online resources designed to support the school curriculum, including videos and downloads.

For people in post-16 learning: free downloads to support study skills and online learning sessions.

For community groups: downloadable creative activities.

For the whole family: creative activities inspired by our Oriental Museum collections.

For everyone to enjoy: an online gallery featuring art by young people and people living with dementia.

Plus a range of support for Arts Award projects.

All the resources are free and available via our website. We’ve designed them so you don’t need much equipment, in many cases just a pencil and paper, and so you don’t have to print materials off.

More resources will be added as soon as we have them ready, so keep checking back in to see what’s new!

Inspiring learning

Under normal circumstances, we work with people of all ages to inspire learning, connected to our museums and collections.

Last year, our ‘4schools’ team worked with a record 24,506 young people from nursery children to A-level students, organised 648 visits and worked with 503 schools.

We know nothing can replace visiting a museum or handling a historical artefact for real. But we’ve worked really hard to create an online package that we hope will help you keep learning until we can reopen our museums and attractions, as soon as guidelines allow.
