We have some amazing singers among our students, and they’re looking forward to entertaining the City during the 2020 Durham Vocal Festival.

What is Durham Vocal Festival?

A two-week celebration of the best vocal talent, with concerts and events across Durham.

The first event takes place on Saturday 25 January, when Sir Thomas Allen, opera star and Durham University Chancellor, will join our Chamber Choir and Durham Choral Society for the ‘Joyous Night’ concert at Durham Cathedral.

What, when and where?

There’ll also be a Gala Theatre performance from our hugely successful student acapella group Northern Lights, and our College choirs will join forces to sing a massed Evensong at Durham Cathedral.

Durham Cathedral Choir and The Avison Ensemble will present Monteverdi’s Vespers at Durham Cathedral, and there will be children’s events, choir competitions and much more.

World-class music in Durham

We’re proud of the contribution we make to the music scene in Durham. We have over 80 student music groups and the top-ranked Music Department in the UK*.
