Could your child be a Hockey Hero?
(1 October 2019)
We’ve got some fantastic sportsmen and women among our students, and many give up their own time to share their skills with local children. One new way they’re doing this is: Hockey Heroes.
What is Hockey Heroes?
A six-week coaching programme for children aged five to eight.
Children get hockey coaching, plus support to develop life skills such as teamwork and communication.
It’s a partnership with England Hockey, the sport’s national governing body, and this is the first time we’ve run it here at Durham University.
Coaching will be from members of our highly successful student hockey club.
The sessions will begin on Sunday 20 October and run for six consecutive Sundays, from 10am to 11am.
The cost is £32 per child, which includes two hockey sticks, a personalised T-shirt, a ball and stickers.
No previous experience of hockey is required. Children of all abilities are welcome.
Numbers are limited and pre-registration is required. Contact: email@example.com
Backing local sport
Children taking part will benefit from the new and improved facilities our Sports and Wellbeing Park, including new and resurfaced hockey pitches.
We also support Durham Hockey Juniors, the junior wing of Durham City Hockey Club, through administration, coaching and free use of our facilities.
Juniors coaching sessions are held each Sunday, from 10am to 11am for children aged six to nine, and from 10.30am to 12pm for children aged ten to 16. The cost is £4 per session, £50 per term, or £120 per year. For more information or to get involved, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
