Inspiring teachers in physics

Teachers at the P3L training day

Part of our mission as a world-leading centre of learning is to share our knowledge with local schools. One way we do this is through training teachers.

Recently, 85 primary school teachers spent a day with us as part of the Ogden Primary Physics Professional Learning (P3L) programme, which our Science Outreach team hosted in partnership with The Ogden Trust.

What is P3L?

The aim is excite primary school teachers and equip them with the specialist knowledge and ideas to teach science.

Local teachers get hands-on workshops helping them to bring science to life in the classroom.

Nearly 300 teachers have taken part in P3L days this year across the country. We’re the only P3L venue in the North East.

‘One of the best CPD events I’ve attended’

Lucy Flanagan, Science Leader at Victoria Lane Academy, Coundon, County Durham, said: “The P3L training was absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to share the investigations we were shown today with staff back at school.

“Every workshop was filled with practical ideas to inspire and teach all ages of primary children. This is certainly one of the best CPD events I have attended and will definitely have an immediate, positive impact on every child in my school.”
