Investing in our shared infrastructure

Proposed new route, past Botanic Garden

It’s really important to us that as we grow the University, we do so in a way that preserves and enhances our City as a great place to live, work, study and visit.

We are aware that at certain times of day, in certain places, there is pressure on pedestrian and road user movement around our site.

The safety of our staff, students, visitors and the public is a top priority for us.

So we are proposing to make a significant investment in improving paths and roads, particularly around South Road and Hollingside Lane.

We consulted on detailed proposals in April and May 2018, and have now submitted a planning application to Durham County Council for consideration.

Full details can be viewed on the Council’s planning portal, using the reference DM/19/01084/FPA.
