Durham University students help the environment and local charities

(4 October 2018)

Eco-conscious students have raised money for local charities as part of the Green Move Out scheme run by Durham University, County Durham Furniture Help Scheme (CDFHS), Durham County Council and Durham Constabulary.

Departing students donated unwanted clothes, electrical goods, books and other items at the end of the summer term, as part of an effort to reduce waste and protect the environment.

A second-hand goods sale hosted by CDFHS, to encourage new and returning students to re-use second-hand items, raised £2250. Other charities also benefited from Green Move Out including the Durham Palestine Educational Trust, East Durham Trust and A Way Out – a charity that aims to prevent the exploitation of women and young people.
