Mr Paul Ging
Paul has responsibility for promoting the work of the eight Durham University Research Institutes at regional and international, national and regional level as well as facilitating the Institutes' channels of communication and marketing with the outside world and further developing internal communications and events.
Paul is a trained journalist who has worked as a presenter and producer for BBC Radio Five Live, BBC London and as a producer for BBC Radio 2, followed by a phase scriptwriting for the station, including writing a three-part series for Stephen Fry. He has additionally worked as a producer on BBC Radio 4, BBC Breakfast, News Editor at GMTV and producer of the Politics Show on BBC 1. His other television experience has involved setting up channels/programmes for the national broadcaster TFN in Poland and producing programmes for MTV in the UK. Additionally, he spent a decade writing for several internationally-published music magazines when other work allowed.
Paul spent 18 years working in London but returned to his native North East with his partner Liane in 2009. They have a son, Harry. Paul is a keen music fan and drummer, his musical interests being diverse but with a particular liking for US and UK Garage Rock/Psychedelia of the late 1960s.
