Talking to the media
Staff may talk to the media directly about their areas of expertise but are advised to seek further advice from the media relations office if they are unsure of how to respond or if they work in controversial areas. It is always useful for the media office to know if you have been working with journalists as we may receive follow up calls when the story is published or broadcast.
There are specific media protocols in relation to stem cells research and animal research. Staff may contact the media office for more information about these.
The media office handles all reactive and crisis communications, such as sensitive issues, statements of University policy, and media relations relating to major incidents. You are advised to refer any such enquiries to the media office.
