CIPR PRide Awards 2010

Finalists in the Best newspaper/magazine for Dialogue.

The CIPR PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and nations. The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.

Much of the work carried out by the Strategic Marketing Team is recognised externally for its innovation and quality. This page outlines recent accreditation received from professional bodies.

Finalists in the Best newspaper/magazine and Best Publication categories for Durham First, Dialogue and the University Brochure.

The CIPR PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and nations. The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. There were 1,448 entries in the 2009 CIPR PRide Awards and Dialogue, Durham First and the University Brochure were all finalists.

 Ann Mealor, CIPR Acting Director General said:

"This year more than ever, consultancies and organisations entering the PRide Awards want to spotlight their achievements while boosting morale - and being a PRide finalist does just that. Having gone through rigorous judging to reach the shortlist is a great achievement and I offer my congratulations to all those who have reached this stage of the competition."


THE Leadership & Management Awards 2009

Finalists in the Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team category

 

The first Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards were launched in 2009. The Communications Team was one of six teams shortlisted nationwide for the Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team award. This award was to recognise outstanding work within marketing and communications departments in the academic year 2008-09.

Gold Award Winners in the Recruitment Category for the Virtual Tour Project

The International Visual Communication Association is one of Europe's leading professional bodies for interactive media communications. The Durham University Virtual Tour Project, produced by Spectrecom Films, beat submissions from British Gas and Southeastern, taking the gold award in the category for best recruitment media.

The judges commented:

'An innovative use of real students coupled with contrasting  production styles, reflected the diversity of the colleges to brilliant effect.'

Magazine of the Year Award for Durham First

The British Association of Communicators in Business is one of Britain's leading professional bodies for internal and coroporate communications. Our alumni magazine, Durham First, beat of strong competition to take the award for Magazine of the Year. 

The judges commented:

'If it’s read by 85,000 people it’s got to be something special – and it is. Each page oozes readability quality. As a PR vehicle alone it is top-drawer.'

Venuemasters Marketing Awards 2006

Winner of Best Brochure for Event Durham brochures 

Venuemasters is a national consortium which promotes event facilities at over 80 UK academic institutions. Their annual awards ceremony recognises exellence and innovation in the marketing of academic venues.  The Marketing Team worked closely with the Event Durham team on a suite of materials to launch the Event Durham brand, and this award recognises the success of these materials in raising the profile of the University's conference and tourism provision. 

The judges commended the brochure's modern design and the high quality photography used throughout. They added that information is presented in a practical and easy to use manner and the summary of information is excellent with a strong call to action.
