Mr Nigel Perry, MBE FREng
Nigel joined Council as a Lay Member on 1 August 2018, he is Chair of Ethics Advisory Committee, a member of Remuneration Committee and the University Strategy Implementation Committee.
He is the Chief Executive of the Centre for Process Innovation, a founding partner of the UK’s Catapult Network. The Catapults work to enable companies to adopt new technologies and process and to translate University research into commercial exploitation.
He is a non-Executive Director of the National Physical Laboratory, the UK’s National Metrology Institute.
He worked for ICI PLC for 22 years in engineering, project and business roles and spent time in the Far-East in Malaysia and Taiwan. He spent 2 years with PwC Consulting working on the European high technology sector.
Nigel graduated in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford in 1979. He is an alumnus of the Accelerated Development Programme at London Business School and the Entrepreneurship Development Programme at MIT.
He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2010 where he is currently a member of the Engineering Policy Committee, past Chair of the Awards Committee and a past member of the Dowling Review of University-Business interaction.
Nigel was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2016 for services to Engineering.
