Dr Camila Caiado BSc PhD

Camila joined Council as a staff member on 1 August 2015. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and holds a BSc in Statistics from the University of Brasilia and a PhD in Mathematical Sciences from Durham University.

She was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Durham in 2011 and promoted to a lectureship in 2015.

Camila is an active researcher whose main interests are in modelling and uncertainty quantification applied to large complex systems such as health, climate, societal dynamics, and banking.

She was part of the interdisciplinary Tipping Points project hosted at the University’s Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience, where she focussed upon building collaborations with researchers across different disciplines, professions and industries to promote knowledge exchange, construct expert-informed models, and develop accessible tools for decision support.

Camila is a member of the SCR and a tutor at St Chad’s college, and has connections to the local community via her research collaborations with IBEX Innovations at Sedgefield, Atom Bank at Aykley Heads, and local NHS Trusts and healthcare providers.
