David joined the CODEC team in February 2016 as their Postdoctoral Research Assistant.
His interest focuses on the relationship between people and the Bible. He completed a PhD in Chester exploring nonreligious men's readings of the Bible. This involved ten months of fieldwork at a Chemical Industrial Plant where small groups of men read through five biblical texts and shared their readings with him.

The Bible and Digital Millennials (2016 - 2017) - A year long project part sponsored by Bible Society exploring how the Bible is related to by 18-35 year olds who are at home in the digital world. It involved surveying the views of approximately 3,000 young british adults to capture their attitudes towards, uses of and social media engagement with the BIble.
Working with the Word (2017 - 2018) - A year long case study exploring the place of Scripture in the lives of "ordinary" Catholics. This study investigates the transformative potential of Bible reading for a small group of 12 Catholics and considers which methods of Bible engagement they find most beneficial.
