Current research projects address a range of cultural forms, including literature, film, publishing, and photography. Areas of interest cover a variety of modern conflicts and tackle cultural and intellectual debates arising from issues such as propaganda, censorship, surveillance, warfare, and terrorism.

The Centre promotes scholarship in these areas conducted in Durham, hosting research seminars, lectures, and occasional conferences, and provides support for new projects and a forum for wider public engagement. The Centre is keen to collaborate with prospective graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are looking to develop projects in Durham.
