Guidance and Support for Education

The service provides direct support to both the PVC (Education) and the Dean for Education, working on educational papers and policies as directed, and supporting institutional engagement with relevant external bodies and processes (e.g. the Office for Students, the QAA, TEF). We manage institutional external surveys such as the National Student Survey, the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey, and the Student Barometer. We provide analysis of quantitative and qualitative educational information and metrics (student survey results, retention rates, external examiner reports, and attainment), providing support for departments in these areas as required.

We support core educational committees and groups, such as Education Committee, Teaching & Learning Commmittee (TLC), Research Degrees Committee (RDC) and Quality & Standards Committee (QSC). We support the development of the University’s quality policies and procedures, and the regulatory framework for the University’s educational provision. We are responsible for drafting the University's educational regulations, guidance and handbooks for all students, and for maintaining the resulting publications (in particular, the Learning and Teaching Handbook and the University Calendar).
