There is a dedicated, secure wireless network for students (undergraduates and taught post-graduates) - DU Student. This is the wireless service you should look out for in any University location.
The first time you use DU Student wireless
- Search for available wireless networks
- Select ‘DU Student’
- Put in your username and password
- Open a browser
For some operating systems (e.g. Mac, Windows Vista), you will need to go through a number of extra steps to configure your device - see the list of guides on the right of this page for help.
The first time you access ‘DU Student’ wireless, you will go through a process to register your device on the network and check that your operating system and security software are up-to-date. When you open up a web browser, you will be taken to the Bradford Campus Manager (this is the name of the tool that does this):
- Select ‘Start’
- Add your username and Password
- Select ‘Go’
For Windows and Mac desktops and laptops the ‘Bradford Dissolvable Agent’ (the file that actually checks your machine) will download and you should ‘Save’ and then ‘Run’ it. Then follow the instructions on screen as you would for the termly Remote Scan/Quarantine. Please note: we're aware that this process can take a long time for Macs - please be patient and it should successfully complete eventually!
If you are on a Linux machine, a tablet or smartphone, once you have selected ‘Go’ you will see a 60 second countdown, then you will be able to access the internet.
You do this once per term and after that you can access the ‘DU Student’ wireless network in all the places you would normally get University wireless access. If you have multiple devices (e.g. a tablet and a smartphone) each device will need to go through this simple process.
